ATLAS logoFollowed by a discussion with the director/producer/writer

Dr. Rosalind Fredericks is an Associate Professor of Geography and Co-director of the Discard Studies Collaborative at NYU. For the past 20 years, she has studied the intersections of urbanism, development, and political ecology in Senegal through the lens of garbage. Her feature-length film, THE WASTE COMMONS, explores the lives and livelihoods affected by the closure of Dakar's Mbeubeuss dump, one of Africa's largest open-air waste sites.

This event is co-sponsored by the Office of International Affairs.
