We feature courses listed on Testudo that have a significant focus on Africa, African American, and/or African diaspora studies. We also post UMD education abroad courses that take place in Africa, or cover relevant topics in non-African countries (i.e., in the Caribbean). Global Classroom courses are included, and we welcome any non-credit courses offered at UMD, as well. If you notice a course is missing from the list or any edits are required, please
let us know.
Student groups featured on our website have a prominent link or cultural connection to Africa, African Americans, and/or the African diaspora and are active on the UMD campus. Our list is not exhaustive, and we welcome student groups who meet these criteria to
reach out to us. We’d love to make sure your group is represented. If you notice a listed student group is defunct or edits are required, please let us know. We want to reflect active student groups on campus accurately!
While many relevant events are held on campus, given our small team and limited resources, we tend to focus on publicizing larger events hosted by academic departments or units that focus on Africa, African Americans, and/or the African diaspora. However, we are happy to publicize any relevant event on campus, no matter what the scale of the event is! If you would like to list an event on the ATLAS site, please
reach out to us with the details, and we’ll be sure your event is posted.
